Chemical Torture in BDSM - How and Why To Begin

Over the course of the past two decades, my interests in BDSM play have shifted. Where at first I was content with some bondage and being teased, I am now open to more intense play. This can be spanking, electro, or, the subject of this article: chemical torture. This sounds extremely intense and dangerous, but it turns out to be not that bad. It can bring a lot of pleasure when done the right way at the right time.
I already began on this path when I was single and living alone. I smeared toothpaste on my inner labia and pussy to see how it would feel. I loved the tingly feeling. I also tried Vicks vaporub, which is a balm based on eucalyptus. This was intenser, but still not really the burn I was hoping it would give.
So I put it on my ‘maybe one day for BDSM experiences, and in the end, I began experimenting with it with my husband. We both enjoyed it a lot. So let me tell you about the substances I’ve tried and how we use them in our play.

What is chemical torture?

Chemical torture is applying an irritant substance to vulnerable skin, like on genitals, nipples or tongue. It’s not for beginners as it is possible to do serious harm to a person’s body. You should always do your research first and find out what the options and potential consequences are. It can also be wise to first test it on a smaller bit of skin to see how your body responds to it and if the pain is manageable. There’s no shame if that’s not the case.
One common form of this type of stimulant is figging: inserting a bit of bared ginger root into a person’s rectum or other orifices. This has been a common practice for hundreds of years on horses and human slaves in ancient Greece. When the ginger is scraped, it will cause a burning sensation after a few minutes, which will first increase in intensity while it tends to become less after about half an hour. Some people find it somewhat unpleasant, while others find it unbearable. In either case, it’s perfect torture. Figging is often combined with spanking.

What substances have we tried?

When I say ‘we,’ I mean what my husband, who’s also my Dominant, has put on me, his submissive.

  • Ginger. We have done ‘figging‘ many times now with a root inserted in my rectum and also slices placed on my nipples, clit and cunt. I enjoy the soft, burning feeling, and I actually miss it if we haven’t done it in a while. It does hurt, but for me, it’s not too much unless you apply it to all the aforementioned places :p
  • Tabasco. When smeared on my labia and the entrance to my vagina, this gets really hot. We have even used it during a longer bondage session where I lay with headphones over my ears and this substance on my genitals for extended periods. I love how this takes over all my senses which means I can’t worry about anything else except the burning between my legs.
  • Toco-Tholin. This is a balm of peppermint and eucalypt oil, amongst other ingredients. When applied to sensitive skin, the result is both a cold and hot burning sensation. Only two or three drops of this mix make me squirm in my seat.

How Does It Work For Me?

I love how it puts me in a submissive headspace, and there’s nothing to be done about it. During a spanking, I can scream and squirm to be hit elsewhere, which sometimes might work. When one of these substances is applied to my body, I know I will have to endure it till the end. You can try to scrape it off with a tissue or dilute it under the shower, but often that won’t make it better. I love the intensity of the feeling. It burns, yes, and there’s nothing to be done about it. I will have to suffer through it. My husband also likes using it since it makes me more submissive and pliable.

After about half an hour, my body usually absorbs the substance if it hasn’t been reapplied. What’s really remarkable is that my skin is very sensitive, but I have no after-effects from it. I might take a shower to clean it properly, but even in the times when I didn’t, I had no harmful effects the following day.

Will We Continue To Do It?

Yes, if you ask me. I think it’s an intriguing addition to our BDSM play. I love how we do bondage and spankings, but chemical torture adds another layer to the experiences. For me, it’s an easy and intense way to get to subspace and to become more submissive to my Dominant. I love how it takes me from this world into a different plane of its own. And there are many more substances I would love to try. I’ve seen clips online where wasabi was used similarly. Just now, I’ve read about cinnamon oil, which also sounds intriguing. So yes, I hope we will continue exploring this part of our BDSM play and that it will bring us a lot of pain and pleasure!
