If there’s something I’m good at, it’s worrying. Ruminating over what has happened, what I should have done and worrying about the future. Just last week, I remembered something I promised to do but never did, nearly twenty years ago. Something insignificant about a flower pot I never returned. That’s what can keep me up at night.

Having lost all my close relatives does make it hard to let go of the past and start living my life. How would my parents have coped with the pandemic? Would I have started my blog had they been alive? How am I to start a family of my own without their guidance?

This song by Boyz II Men is all too familiar with their statements. In the early nineties, I listened to this band a lot. I love the album II. This particular song was never really a favourite of mine, but that’s also because I’m not a big fan of ballads.
It is an important lesson to keep your eye on the memories and think fondly of those who passed. It’s all you can do. Don’t get stuck in the past.
