This website is run by Liz BlackX from the Netherlands. I want you to be able to read here without being tracked or profiled. This page explains what is measured, what isn't, and which outside services you may come across.

Visitor statistics
To see which stories and articles people enjoy, I use Matomo, an open-source statistics tool that runs on my own server (analytics.lizblackx.nl). The data never goes to Google or any other company, and it is not used for advertising.
What is measured
- Which pages are visited, and in what order during one visit
- How long a page is open
- Which page a visit starts on, and the website or search engine you came from
- What you type in the search box on this site
- Your country (and roughly your region), derived from a shortened IP address
- Technical details such as browser, operating system and screen size
How your privacy is protected
- No cookies. The statistics work without cookies or anything else stored on your device.
- Shortened IP addresses. The last two parts of your IP address are removed before anything is saved, so the address can't be traced back to you.
- No profiles. There are no accounts, user IDs or names linked to visits, and no attempt to work out who you are, your age, your gender or your preferences. A visit can only be recognised as one visit for the day; the next day you are a new, anonymous visitor.
- Not shared. The data stays on my server and is not sold or shared.
- Deleted over time. Detailed visit data is deleted after 14 months; only totals (for example, "this page was read 300 times in May") are kept.
Because these statistics are anonymous and have little to no effect on your privacy, Dutch law allows them without asking for permission first. You can still switch them off:
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, your visits are not counted at all.
Comments
Comments are provided by Hyvor Talk, a comment service without ads. The comment box is only loaded on posts, when you scroll down to it; your browser then connects to Hyvor Talk, which receives your IP address. If you post a comment, Hyvor Talk processes what you submit (such as your name and comment). See the Hyvor privacy policy.
Stored in your browser
Two choices are remembered in your browser's local storage so you don't have to make them again: that you clicked "I'm 18+" on the adults-only notice, and the text size you picked on stories and posts. This information stays on your device and is never sent to me or anyone else. You can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser. More on the cookies page.
Fonts
The fonts (Fredoka and Nunito) are served from this website itself, so no font service such as Google Fonts learns that you visited.
Videos, music and previews from other sites
Some posts include videos, music or book previews from other websites, such as YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, BitChute or Amazon Kindle. These are not loaded until you click them: until then you see a preview image stored on this site, and the other website is not contacted at all.
When you click, the video or preview is loaded from that website, which then receives your IP address and may collect data according to its own privacy policy. YouTube videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which doesn't set cookies until the video plays.
Links
Some links to shops are affiliate links: if you buy something after clicking, I may receive a small commission. The shop then knows you came from this site. The "Buy me a coffee" button is a plain link to Ko-fi; nothing is loaded from Ko-fi until you click it.
Server logs
Like any web server, the server hosting this site keeps short-term technical logs (including IP addresses) to keep the site secure and working. These are not used for statistics.
Your rights
You can ask what data about you is held, and have it corrected or deleted, by emailing liz@lizblackx.nl. Because the statistics are anonymous I usually can't link any of them to you, but I'm happy to answer questions. If you have a complaint, you can also contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
